How to find assistance for the homeless in Atchison County




After discussions with many service providers at our Stop, Collaborate, & Listen events we have created a list of resources to share with the community.


If you need help with permanent housing please see the information below. If you or someone you know is lacking stable, safe, and adequate housing and needs immediate help outside of normal business hours please contact the Atchison police dispatch (913-367-4323). They will assess the situation and get in touch with the appropriate resources.


Salvation Army

Services:

  • Assistance in housing placement or resource referrals.

  • Transportation to out of town shelters (24 hours).

  • Homeless needs (including blankets, food, etc.)

Services:

  • Add individuals to the regional waitlist.

  • Rental deposits, utility deposits, and rent assistance.

Services:

  • medical care

  • behavioral health and dental care

Services:

  • pantry

  • weekly transition bags

  • hot water for transition clients

  • mats for transition clients

  • housing screening

  • rent and utility assistance

  • employment services (job placement, job readiness classes)

  • financial education

  • pregnancy counseling

  • adoption program.
